In My Bookshelf : La délicatesse de David Foenkinos review📖🍵

·

This week, I felt like reading something light and easy… and honestly, what better choice than a David Foenkinos novel.

Délicatesse, David Foenkinos tells the story of Nathalie and François, a couple for whom love felt like an instant certainty from the very first moment. Their happiness seems simple, steady, luminous  until the day a sudden tragedy shatters everything.

Without warning, without the slightest sign, life confronts them with their greatest tragedy the one that will change everything.

The novel reads quickly and effortlessly; the words seem to glide on their own, and the emotions intertwine and unravel with each chapter. La Délicatesse explores meaningful, timely themes such as grief, the delicate balance between private and professional life, and the slow work of rebuilding oneself. It’s a book that opens your eyes to the beauty around us  the small, everyday things we almost forget to stop and notice.

La Délicatesse is a novel that left me with a gentle, lingering warmth. I didn’t necessarily grow attached to the characters, yet their tragedy touched me deeply, almost unexpectedly. The themes he explores  grief, boundaries, rebuilding  feel both poignant and honest, carried by that quiet, everyday poetry he knows so well. It’s the kind of book that reminds you to look up, to notice the small, fragile beauties we tend to overlook in the rush of daily life.
